Stormwater Treatment
Price and Company, Inc. provides two types of in-line water clarification techniques - chemical and mechanical.
Nutrient Separating Baffle Boxes [NSBB] remove particulate matter within storm drain systems via filtration and settlement, both mechancal processes. This effective system uniquely renders improved water clarity by separating organic materials from the water, thereby preventing decomposition and the resulting flush of highly degraded water during subsequent runoff events. In addition, NSBBs capture and hold non-degradable contaminants, such as soil particulates, in chambers which all but prevent re-suspensioning of the particulates between system maintenance cycles. The net result - greatly improved storm water discharge clarity, less pollutant loading on downstream ecologies, and improved public health.
Floc Logs® are semi-solid forms of environmentally safe, polyacrylamide blends. When placed in moving water and allowed to function as intended, the ensuing chemical process produces floc and chelants, effectively removing suspended and many solutioned contaminants. In doing so, water clarity is optimized, typically in the range of two orders of magnitude, whether measured in ppm or ntu units. And water quality often improves with water clarity. Chemical water clarification is relatively new to on-site construction, but is a stayed method within municipal water treatment plants. Use this safe, effective process to clarify storm water and improve surface water quality discharges.
