Silt Stop® is a family of powerful, environmentally safe polymer blends used to temporarily control erosion. When applied to exposed soil in either dry or water-emulsion form [water truck, hydraulic mulcher, etc.], Silt Stop stabilizes surface soil particles together, reducing water and wind derived erosion while increasing infiltration rates and reducing runoff.
Silt Stop, applied at standard rates of 10-50 lbs per acre, offers significant protection from wind as well as precipitation impact and sheet flow stresses for 2-4 months. Its application via hand-held seeders, backpack blowers, drop spreaders or broadcast spreaders is fast and easy, making this BMP ideal for end-of-day application if rain events are forecasted, regardless of area needing protection. Silt Stop works immediately - no curing time is required - resulting in real protection over a wide range of weather conditions and time constraints. With low application rates and simple installation procedures, Silt Stop is the most economical temporary erosion control BMP for moderate to low stress conditions.
