North American Green's SedimentSTOP^® biodegradable filtration system effectively traps suspended solids, reducing turbidity within sheet flows. SedimentSTOP is water-permeable - it allows water to pass through while trapping soil particles. Sites won't flood like standard water ponding BMPs such as wattles, straw bales and silt fences.

Composed of a 70% straw / 30% coconut fiber matrix and reinforced with a 100% biodegradable netting, SedimentSTOP is rolled from edge to edge to create a highly-effective, temporary, three-dimensional sediment filtration structure. Because it is fully biodegradable, it does need removal upon project completion for most non-developed site applications, e.g., logging roads, utility easements, and resource recovery areas. Because it leaves absolutely no synthetic residues on site, SedimentSTOP is ideal for use in bioengineering projects, wetland mitigation, riparian area protection, shaded areas, streambank restorations and environmentally-sensitive areas where synthetic-netted products may pose a threat to wildlife.

For more urban applications, SedimentSTOP improves curb appeal - it's lower than silt fences and straw bales and when its splash apron is seeded, the system offers a significantly softer visual impact. Because it functions via filtration rather than settlement through ponded water, stormwater leaves the site - giving contractors more room to operate when space is limited.
