Inlet Protection

Inlet protection is importantReducing contaminant entrance into storm drains is critical for compliance with Phase II discharge quality requirements. Post construction contaminants such as debris, organic solids, trash, soil particulates and organic liquids significantly impact downstream ecologies. Often, nutrients, pesticides, herbicides and detrimental chemicals are attached to the observable items. Once into the drains, many of these items degrade into 'brews' and 'residues' which further impact receiving water bodies or land masses via high COD, BOD and chemical loadings. Whether for reasons of legal compliance, environmental stewardship or social responsibility, reducing downstream contaminant migration is important.

Storm drain inlets provide logical and easy-to-maintain locations for contaminant collection. However, the effectiveness, maintenance costs and potential failure of collection practices are directly related to the practice's design.  To this end, Price & Company offers two well-designed system families, each fully capable of capturing and holding contaminants and at the same time, enabling quick, easy and low cost maintenance.

Catch-All, particularly the HR-I series, offers outstanding performance in areas where organic liquid contaminants are a primary concern.  Grate Inlet Skimmer Boxes are ideal in areas of moderate to high particulate movement or where maintenance intervals are lengthy. Regardless of the system used, significant contaminant reductions result - allowing healthier downstream ecologies and Phase II compliance ease.
