History

Price & Company became a corporation in September of 1986 and functioned as a representative organization based within the Grand Rapids area.  As with many new companies, John and Carolyn's 'business' could be assayed quickly - one product line, one rented cubby-hole, two telephone lines, one computer, confidence, hope and a quickly depleting savings account.  On the debit side of the balance sheet were no business plan and no customer/client contacts [management suggests that better approaches should be considered].

Within two months Price & Company added the North American Green [erosion blankets & turf reinforcement mats] and Presto Products - Geosystems [cellular confinement sections] lines to the original Phillips Fibers line [geotextiles & paving membranes].  Adding North American Green permanently altered the PCI business platform as it demanded the functions of distribution, rather than one of strict representation.  Hence, PCI moved to its current Wyoming location in early 1987 and learned the nuances of dealing with an accounts receivable based business.

Growth continued steadily during the next three years until time could no longer be expanded by the owner.  So, in early 1990, Mark Cavanaugh and Judi Dever joined the company - Judi retired in mid-2007 [and is sorely missed] while Mark continues on as our most seasoned sales veteran.  Their skills and willingness to take on just about anything gave the company the ability to further expand product lines as well as additional sales and support staff.

The next momentous addition came in 1995 when Al Adams joined the Team and began the corporate transformation from an entrepreneurship to a managed organization.  Growth, resources and service improvements began to flourish with Al's leadership.  So much so that in early 2001, PCI expanded by opening its second distribution point in Wixom [northwest metro Detroit].  With continued growth, both distribution points are now fully staffed and managed locally.

Currently, we enjoy continued growth despite the current state of Michigan's economy.  While our Team would like to take credit for these accomplishments, we know that whatever successes have developed and will develop come from a combination of great customers, open-minded designers & regulators and supportive vendors.  'Thank You' - we will continue to provide the service, quality products, application technology resources and partnership attitude all of you have become accustomed to receiving from the staff of Price & Company.
