Floc Logs are semi-hydrated polymer blends that flocculate and/or chelate significant quantities of suspended and dissolved particulates within moving water. Floc Logs perform when water is in motion, regardless of energy source, e.g., wind, pump, gravity or compressor. Turbid water passing by Floc Logs slowly dissolve the polymer blend. The continued water movement / turbulence enables the suspended and dissolved particulates to attach to the polymer blend molecular charge sites, forming floc [large particles]. When chemically possible, secondary electrovalent bonds form [chelation], enabling the removal of additional pollutants. Placid water zones allow the developed floc and chelates to settle, resulting in significantly clearer water. If needed or desired, filtration or attachment processes can be added to remove floc and chelates that tend to float within a water column.
Applications of Floc Logs to clarify ponds and small lakes are broad spectrum including residential
waterscape features, golf course stormwater storage and irrigation ponds, fire-protection holding ponds and decorative ponds for commercial, industrial, institutional and residential properties. All Floc Logs will address soil particulates such as silts and clays - a simple bench test determines which Floc Log is suitable for the site-specific water chemistry. In addition, several Floc Log types chelate heavy metals, such as iron. This can significantly reduce iron staining of both hard structure and plant materials irrigated from ponds or lakes having high iron counts. Some Floc Logs are able to floc and chelate particulate and dissolved phosphates, respectively. With reduced phosphate loads, algae development is significantly retarded or prevented. Within the range of pollutants with which Floc Logs can react, this family of safe, versatile and easy-to-use polymer blends provide significantly improved surface water quality - economically.
