Turf Reinforcement Mats

North American Green Vmax³^® turf reinforcement mats enable vegetation to be used in areas where the forces exerted by water or wind exceed the shear limits of unreinforced vegetation. Typical applications include swales, storm flow zones of channels and streambanks, extreme slopes and other areas where riprap, articulated blocks, and CIP concrete were once the only suitable alternatives for erosion protection.

All North American Green turf reinforcement mats include the combination of a permanent, non-degradable, three-dimensional net structure and matrix material components of either synthetic or biodegradable materials. Similar to erosion control blankets, these turf reinforcement mats provide excellent temporary protection from precipitation impact, sheet flow and wind. In addition, they create a microenvironment which assists germination and early plant development … optimizing well-developed vegetation. Then, during both the plant development and maturity growth stages, the permanent net structure supports and reinforces plant roots, stems and leaves, enabling their ability to withstand high wind and water shear stresses.

Each North American Green TRM has been tested to determine performance characteristics relative to slope and concentrated flow erosion stress conditions. North American Green’s easy to use, complimentary software, Erosion Control Materials Design Software [ECMDS^®], allows designers to evaluate which product is best suited to meet site-specific needs using federally accepted design standards.
